This is a beautifully detailed painting of the all-seeing Lord of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara, a Bodhisattava. The wish-fulfilling jewel "Cintamani," (which demonstrates the ability and willingness to help all beings) is held in his forward hands. In his right rear hand he holds the "Akshamala," the Buddhist prayer necklace (used for counting the spoken mantras that concentrate the mind before meditation). In the left rear hand he holds a lotus flower as a symbol of spiritual unfolding. Beautifully captured here on stretched canvas, the great Bodhisattva has been meticulously hand-painted in acrylics and signed by the artist.
